Now retired, Maria-Lynn has worked most of her career in the Non-Profit Sector and is knowledgeable about all aspects of non-profit management. She is the president of the Revelstoke Hospice Society and serves on the Finance and Governance committees.
With a Bachelor of Recreation Education she:
- Managed 3 separate large and small recreation facilities in Vancouver, consistently having “Seniors” as part of her portfolio of duties
- Served as Director of Activities for a 103 bed Intermediate Care Facility in the Comox Valley for 2 separate maternity leaves
- Served as the Executive Director of the Adult Learning Centre, Courtenay
- Coordinated literacy and social services programs in Calgary
Last full-time job prior to retirement: Coordinated training and volunteers at CentrePoint Non Profit Management. Helping non-profit organizations with their work in governance was the cornerstone of the services provided through CentrePoint, a charity providing services in management and governance to other non-profit agencies, including Fund Development, Marketing, Leadership, Strategic Planning, and Facilitation.
Maria-Lynn joined the Hospice Society in May 2017, took the Palliative and PALS training and currently enjoys her relationship with her PAL, occasionally helps with the walking program, attends Death Cafes and enjoys reading and learning more about the death and dying process. Serving on a Board Committee or the Hospice Board by sharing her expertise and interests would also contribute to her understanding of and help further the Mission and Vision of the organization.
Maria-Lynn also volunteers for the Performing Arts Centre, The One to One Reading Program, Bear Aware’s Gleaning Project and lends support to her family and grand children.
