Because talking about death won't kill you!

At a Death Cafe people, often strangers, gather to eat cake, drink tea and discuss death. The objective is ‘to increase awareness of death with a view to helping people make the most of their (finite) lives’. A Death Cafe is a group directed discussion of death with no agenda, objectives or themes. It is a discussion group rather than a grief support or counselling session.

Death Cafes have 3 rules:

  1. Free – On a not for profit basis in an accessible, respectful and confidential space
  2. Organic conversation with no agenda- no intention of leading people to any conclusion, product or course of action
  3. Must serve cake and tea!- alongside refreshing drinks and nourishing food – but always cake!

Death Cafes are typically held at Dose Coffee, 101 2nd street east on the LAST MONDAY of EACH MONTH. Revelstoke Hospice Society hosts 9 Death Cafes per year, excluding December, July and August.
